Pharchamo Peak rests at an altitude of 6,273m above sea level. The exquisite mountain peak sits between Rolwaling and Khumbu valley and was first expedited in 1955. Since then, numerous climbers have conquered this high altitude summit. However, it should not be thought of as an easy climb. Pharchamo Peak climbing is technically very difficult and you need all kinds of ropes and mountaineering equipments in order to complete this climb and trekking route.
The trekking route that we walk on is relatively easier as there is not much gain in altitude per day. Although, we trek for long hours the path is not excessively steep. Climbing, though is a different story. This is one of the technically difficult peaks in the region. Once you reach the top of the mountain, the view that you get to see and the vibe of the environment makes you feel that your effort was worth it.
Our trip begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Dolakha followed by several days of moderately difficult trekking. We penetrate through numerous forests, cross large rivers, walk along huge suspension bridges, visit the magnificent Tso Rolpa Lake and many such landscapes before finally preparing for the climb to the summit. Once we reach the base camp, we start preparing ourselves for the challenge that should be overcome. We use our skills and tricks we learnt in our training in order to make it to the summit. After the feat, we retrace our path towards base camp and then divert towards Lukla. From Lukla, we take an amazing and jaw-dropping flight out of the Himalayas.
The best seasons to complete this climbing trek route are spring and autumn. We will be witnessing varieties of flora and fauna. Rhododendron, pine forests and other alpine vegetations are very common. We will also meet with a lot of people from different religious and cultural backgrounds and this makes our trip more of a learning experience. The warmth and hospitality of the people you find on the way makes you feel homely.
