Trip Overview

The Australian camp is one of the shortest treks in Nepal. Australian base camp is set in a beautiful hilltop that lies in the north-west of Pokhara. This hilltop trek offers you breathe taking view of the valley and Mount Annapurna. The real name of this place was Thulo Kharka (huge pasture) but it is called Australian Base Camp because it is said that in the ‘80s the people from Austria found this place as trekking spot.

The main highlight of this trek is the view of the Annapurna range and the famous Dhampus village. This trekking route is not as popular as the other but you will feel the worth when you reach the destination camp. This trek can be suitable for those trekkers who want to grab scenic views of mountains in a short period of time. The routes are also not so difficult to be on. There are in total eight mountains whose glimpse you can see from the camp and they are; Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri North, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu Himal.

The route follows villages and forests so you can enjoy nature and also get to interact with the villagers during the stays. This trek also can be suitable for beginners. The base camp gives you one of the best views of Nepal. This trek will be remarkable in your trekking diaries.
