Trip Overview

 Mount Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world and second highest peak making it one of the most famous and hardest treks of Nepal. It is located on the far north-eastern side along the border of Sikkim and Nepal in the Himalayas raising an elevation of 8586 meters (28,169 ft). Being a remote trekking trial it is still an unexplored virgin trekking route. The first person to climb this mountain was Joe Brown and George Band on 25 May 1995. Not many people can trek in this trial as it is hard and only experienced ones who have trekked before and have good health and mental fitness can finish this trail. But still every year thousands of tourist treks in this trail to explore beautiful mountains massifs in the world. Mount Kanchenjunga gets its name from 5 submits giving meaning for its name as “Five Treasure of Great Snow”  symbolizing gold, silver, grains, precious stones, and holy scriptures.

Kanchenjunga circuit trek proffers a magnificent view of snow-capped mountains, exotic Himalayan views, and wonderful landscapes. Trekking in this circuit allows you to outreach in the base camp of the world’s third-largest mountain. It is a remote mountain trail which can be wiped off with-in 22- 25 days. This trek is perfect for those tourists who seek solitude, peacefulness, and a less crowded path. As this area is restricted you need an experienced trekking or tour guide having a government license of trekking.

During peak season all the other trekking routes of Nepal which are easier to reach are overcrowded, but not this trek. This trek is vigorous and unfamiliar to many tourists; you will have the opportunity to exploit its landscapes filled with icy-cold Rivers, waterfalls, forests filled with beautiful flowers and herbs, etc. You can also witness massive wildlife like snow leopard, Red panda, musk deer, and birds like Shy dragon, Amphibians, pheasant, and many more. This trail will allow you to explore the remarkable valleys, its rich culture, and tradition, native resident, magnificent views of the mountains, etc.

Itenerary

Enjoy your 1st day at the main city of Nepal by sightseeing or you can also shop for all the necessary trekking equipment and Gadgets. Your journey will start from the next day so make yourself be prepared for it.
After having breakfast your guide will take you to the airport. With access to air transport, you will get to see the magnificent view of the Himalayas on your way. You will have to take a trip of a vehicle to Illam (3-4 hours drive). Stay a night in Illam.
Enjoy your long day trip from Illam, known as the Tea plantation area of our country. You can explore the hills, city, and have lunch on your way. Stay a night in Taplejung.
This is the starting point of your trek. After having morning breakfast you start your journey with your tour guide from Taplejung to Chirwa for 6-7hours. Stay a night at the village of Sinwa.
It will take around 5-6 hours to reach Lelep. On your way, you will come across the Kanchenjunga conservation area where you will have your tourist permit grant before heading towards a long suspension bridge to reach Lelep.
This trek will take around 5hours where in your way to Amjilosa you will get to see beautiful villages of Sherpa, Wildlife, Waterfalls, and bridges. The village here is very less crowded with yaks and sheep in their homes. Stay overnight in Sherpa village.
You will notice a difference in the scenery and views. As you move forward you will traverse people of different cultures and traditions ie. Tibetans. You will make your way through a beautiful forest with flowers like Rhododendrons, Pines, and birds. After a minimum of 4 hours hike, you will reach Gyabla where you will stay overnight.
After hiking for 4 hours you will reach Ghunsa. It is the largest village in the area where you will have all the necessary facilities including telephone, health post, Internet service, police station, handicraft shops, and Kanchenjunga Conservation Office, etc. Stay overnight in Ghunsa.
To get you familiar with the height, weather, and altitude of the mountains, acclimatization is necessary. This step is totally optional and can be customized as per your wishes but we recommend you to acclimatize your body for preparation to North Base Camp.
After an overnight stay in Ghunsa we will move forward towards Kambachen which is 4-5 hours away from Ghunsa. Beautiful views of Mt.Ghabur (6395m) can be seen on the way to kambachen. You can have refreshments in the tea house and will have to stay overnight at Kambachen.
Get the mesmerizing views of Mountains and endangered wild animals like snow leopards, Red Panda, blue sheep, and yaks. After 4-5 hours of walk through uphills, you will reach Lhonak. Stay overnight at Lhonak.
After a hard uphill climb of base camp for 6-7 hours, you will be mesmerized by the view of hills and mountains surrounding you from every side. You can have some snacks or lunch at the lap of mountains where the prayer flags are fluttering by the cold wind. We will return to Lhonak at night and stay there.
We will again hike to Ghunsa where we spent the night before. This hike will take from 5-6 hours where the land seems greener and covered by glaciers. There will be less snow on the way to Ghunsa from Lkhnak.
Get a fantastic view of Mt.Makalu from a distance during a 5-hour hike to Sere.La base camp. The surrounding gets much greener and the trail takes us in a dense forest from where we can see Ghunsa and Phale village. Get a wonderful view of pine walls and beautiful views of prayer flags on the village of Sere La camp.
The majestic view of Mt.Kanchenjunga can be seen. We should walk for roughly 6-7 hours this day to reach Cheram village. We will spend a night here. Get a magnificient view of several mountain peaks on your way to Cheram.
We hike for 6-7 hours to reach Ramche. Lands are filled with glaciers and we take lunch on our way. Hike to Ramche gives you unforgettable glacier excursion and blissful snowcapped mountain views. Stay overnight at Ramche.
Very few tea houses can be found at Torongding and no civilizations are found in trails between Cheram to Torongding. We will take a short break in between our hike to have lunch and march forward. The trail goes from uphill to forests and we will have to walk for 4hrs to spend a night at Torongding.
Sherpa gaun also is known as Yamphuding village of Sherpa community people. Today we have long hours of the hike so, after having breakfast we move with our little steps. After 7-8hours of a hike through steep downhill mountains and forest we reach this place. Stay overnight at Yamphuding.
The harder hikes are almost finished as we make our walk towards Khebang. After having breakfast we move forward towards Khebang. Within 5-6 hours of walk, we will reach this village where the surrounding are greener and we stay a night here.
After having breakfast in Khebang we will start our short hike. This is the final day for the hike where we will walk for 4-5 hours. On the way, we will cross Kabeli Khola to reach Happukhola. We will stay a night in Happukhola.
From Happukhola thorpu we will take a vehicle to reach Birtamod. Thorpu is a Terai region where you will notice the change in weather with the warmer landscape. We can relax in a comfortable bed after a long tiring driving journey.
Our guide will help you with the flights in Bhadrapur and after reaching Kathmandu you will be accommodated in a nice hotel where you can have rest. After this day you can depart to your home country or you can also take a free day for your own in Kathmandu city.
