Trip Overview

Three passes trek is a trek to Everest Base Camp. This trekking destination is filled with challenging trails fit for experienced trekkers based on crossing high elevation passes. It is an exploration of Himalayan bodies like snow-capped mountains, the trail, the lifestyle of people living in that region, etc. it is known as the most challenging and rough trek as it crosses through three passes linking through four villages i.e. Bhotekoshi, Gokyo, Khumbu, and Imjatse. The three high passes are Renjo La which is at an elevation of 5388 meters, Cho La at an elevation of 5380 meters, and Kongma La at an altitude of 5535 meters. That trek also takes you to Everest Base Camp making it a fulfilling and incomparable trekking experience to you. The Himalayas aren’t only the attraction of this trek, you will observe rich Sherpa culture, local villages, their lifestyle, etc. there will be many stops in your way where you can rest and just enjoy the scenic view of the stunning Himalayas, the valley, glacier, landscapes, etc. three passes trek is a long route so you need to be experienced as well as fit at the same time. You will be walking on boulders, ice crevasses, zigzag and slippery frozen trail where you need to be a lot more conscious while walking. The climate might be challenging as per the season while moderate to strong wind blows time and again and of course the region is cold so you need to carry warm clothes with you. You will need personal necessities and well-equipped/ genuine trekking gear. Thus, there might be other things to explain but it is never enough until you go and experience it. 

Your journey begins from a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla, you will trek to Namche Bazaar which is popularly known as the gateway to Everest. You will rest for a rest as you adapt the air of a bit higher elevation and also have a quick visit to the Sherpa village, Khumjung. For two acclimatization nights, the eastern arm adds a hike up to Chhukhung and adds a walk to Chhukhung Ri or the Island Peak Base Camp for views over and beyond the Lhotse and Ama Dablam glaciers. There is a lodge for trekkers and those are in good condition. You will also be camping for some nights as there won’t be lodges or tea houses available in all regions. After then, you will head towards Everest base camp; back to Duglha and take the long route up to Cho La (5368 m) and a steep descent to Thangnak. Cross the Ngozumpa Glacier and head for Gokyo and take a rest day to climb Gokyo Ri for spectacular views of the longest Cho Oyo glacier in Nepal and the Everest range. While returning, you will head down towards the west as it has a steep ascent to Renjo La. After that, you descend to Marulung which provides you a vibrant landscape. The trail connects an old Tibetan salt trade route and continues to Thame. You will then trek back to Namche Bazaar to Lukla and return to Kathmandu. 


You will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. Our representative will welcome you and then escort you to your hotel where you will be staying overnight.
Since you are in the trade hub/ capital city Kathmandu, you will explore the city. Kathmandu is the city of temples, thus you will view countless numbers of temples and other religious sites as well. You will be visiting world heritage sites i.e. Pashupatinath Temple, Swoyambhunath Stupa which is also known as monkey temple located on top of a hillock, Durbar Square, Krishna Temple, etc. there are many sites you might not have time to visit but you can negotiate with the tour guide for which place to prioritize more.
After your breakfast, you will be departing for Lukla which will take you about 35 minutes. Lukla airport is considered one of the most thrilling and dangerous airports in the world. After reaching Lukla, you will be escorted to a Sherpa settlement, Choplung for a time being. After then, you trek along the trail of Dudh Koshi valley before trekking towards Ghat. The trail ascends slightly for an hour to reach your destination, Phakding. You will spend your night in a lodge.
After your breakfast, you will be heading towards Namche bazaar entering a beautiful pine forest and crossing many suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river flowing through Sherpa villages i.e. Benkar, Chimoa, Monjo and Jorsale. You will be entering the National park from where you can see gorgeously imposing Mt Thamserku (6618m). The trail ascends steadily while crossing the Tenzing-Hilary suspension bridge. You will also see a glimpse of Everest, Nuptse- Lhotse ridge. After 3 hours of continuous walk, you will reach Namche Bazaar. You will have your dinner and night stay at a lodge.
You will be resting so that you can adapt to the changing temperature and environment. You can explore Namche Bazaar as it has basic facilities for tourists like ATMs, cyber café, restaurants that serve authentic Nepali cuisine, bakery, etc. you can visit Sagarmatha National park where you can observe Sherpa culture, Everest ascenders, flora, and fauna, etc.
You will be having your breakfast at the lodge then head towards Tengboche. It is 6 to 7 hours of the trek while you will trek on a moderate trail along with an iconic view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and also a close-up view of Thamserku and Khangtaiga. The path will take you down to Dudh Koshi River and you will be crossing a suspension bridge. After then, you will ascend to a steep pine and juniper forest and walk about 2 hours to reach Tengboche.
After your breakfast, you will take the trail that descends to Deboche village. You will be crossing the suspension bridge over Imja Khola and climb up to Pangboche along with an amazing view of Ama Dablam. You will gradually reach the Lobuche river and proceed with the final part of the day to Dingboche which is also a Sherpa settlement. You will spend your night in a lodge.
The trek will be exciting and moderate as you head towards Imja valley. After walking for 3 hours, you reach Bibre which is a yak herdsman's place. You may rest there for some time and continue your trek. It will take 30 minutes from Bibre to reach Chhukung. You will reach your destination early. Thus, after having your lunch, you can go to a short hike to a rocky knoll named Chhukung Ri at an elevation of 5546 meters.
You will be exploring Chhukung village and resting for the time being as you need to adapt to the changing temperature and environment. Thus, you won’t be resting for long; you will hike to Island Peak Base Camp at an elevation of 6189 meters. After reaching there, you will be rewarded with the blessing view of the glistering Lhotse river. You will be observing a panoramic view of stunning snow-capped peaks along with a mesmerizing view of the sunset that makes the whole scenario fulfilling.
This will be a long trek for you and you will be well prepared with the water bottles, snacks and lunch as there won’t be any lodges in between. You will be walking down to Bibre and follow the trail along Niyang Khola. You will be seeing wonderful views of Island Peak Valley. As you ascend along the east side of Niyang Khola valley, you will turn west and walk on a sloppy stone-paved path. The last descent trek will be the most difficult part for today’s destination as you will be climbing the moraine on the far side as the trail turns north through Khumbu Glacier which will take you to Lobuche. You will rest in a lodge and spend your night.
After your breakfast, you will trek towards the north ridge to Everest along with Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbutse, etc. the path is covered with rocks and the weather will be windy. You will be trekking alongside Khumbu Glacier to Gorakshep. You will rest in a lodge and have your lunch. After having lunch, you will trek to Everest Base Camp.
You will leave early morning and trek for about 3 hours to Kala Patthar from where you will have a golden opportunity to watch beautiful sunrise along with a panoramic view of other snow-capped mountains while you are on top of the world, Everest. The whole view is mesmerizing and fulfilling. After spending some precious time to view the sunrise, you will trek down to Lobuche where you will have your lunch. After that, you will again trek the ascends and descends as you will pass across many streams and a lake. After a long 6 to 7 hours of trek, you reach to Dzongkha.
You will start your trek early morning. This will be the most difficult trek for this journey. You will proceed trekking from the west direction of Dzonglha where the trail descends to a basin. As you walk for about an hour, you will reach on top of the basin. As you gain height, you will see Cho La lake and Ama Dablam Mountain. After reaching on top, you will see prayer flags and strong wind will be blowing. After all these difficulties to climb, you will observe majestic views of 360-degree snow-capped mountains. After then, you can easily trek down to Thangnak from the pass. Since this part of the trek is challenging, it is equally dangerous; you should be walking very cautiously. You reach Thangnak which is a small village with a limited number of people. You will be trekking till Gokyo Village which will be a bit easier than previous stop trails. You will be stepping out of Thangnak and reach on the edge of Ngozumpa glacier which is the longest glacier of Nepal. You will cross the glacier where you will see the second lake of Gokyo. Thus, from there you will trek till the third lake where at the edge stands the Gokyo village. You will rest and spend your night in a lodge.
After such a long trek yesterday, you will give rest to your body to restore the energy. Thus, you won’t be resting all day long; you can make your leisure time productive by hiking to Gokyo Ri. It is at an elevation of 5350 meters and tales about 2 hours to reach. After reaching Gokyo Ri, you will be provided an extremely unique panoramic view of Cho Oyu, Gyanchung King, Lhotse, Makalu, etc. along with Everest
After your breakfast early morning, you will ascend to Gokyo Ri. You will leave the main trail and turn to the Renjo La trail by Dudh Pokhari. After a 3 hour walk, you will reach Renjo La where you can again see an amazing view of snow peaks. You will then continue from the pass and eventually walk down the narrow valley covered with great boulders till Lumde, you will walk for an hour to reach Marlung.
After your breakfast at the lodge, you will be walking down to Thame and cross Bhote Koshi river then down to Taranga. After walking for some time, you will eventually reach Samde where you can see amazing scenarios. The trail descends to Thamo village. Thus, you will reach Namche trekking across Gompas, prayer flags, mani walls, and Chortens.
This is your final day of trekking and you will be saying a bye to Namche. You will be exiting from the national park exit checkpoint Jorale. The path follows down to the Dukh Koshi River to Phakding. You will see Sherpa villages and cross a suspension bridge over Thado Kosh. After a 45 minutes’ walk, you reach Lukla and check in to your hotel for the rest of the day.
The next day, you will finally return to Kathmandu by flight. It will take you around 35 minutes to reach. After reaching Kathmandu, our representatives will transfer you to the hotel where you can relax or customize your leisure time.
Our representatives will drop you to the airport 3 hours before the scheduled flight saying a last goodbye. You will be departing for your homeland taking a rough yet memorable and rewarding experience with yourself.

Trekking without any necessary gear can be very harmful and won’t be easy. No one wants to get hurt in a remote and distant area where there’s no proper health care.
